Comfert Giramia, the Executive Director of Thrive Together Initiative (TTI), is a powerful example of how mentorship can transform a vision into a reality. After losing her job during the COVID-19 pandemic, Giramia found hope and a new path by selling roasted groundnuts, a skill she learned from her parents. This experience inspired her to create TTI to empower other women, youth, and people with disabilities who had been left behind.
However, as a new leader, Giramia felt overwhelmed. “I lacked the skills, even though I had the knowledge,” she explains. She needed guidance on how to organize her efforts, manage a team, and communicate effectively.
Her search for help led her to Linked Africa, where she was paired with her mentor, Elisabeth Carrio. Elisabeth provided the essential support Giramia needed, teaching her:
🤵🏾♀️ Adaptive Leadership: How to adjust her leadership style to work with different people and help them align with the organization’s vision.
🫂 Team Management: The importance of working collaboratively, understanding that “you as a person cannot run everything on your own.”
🗨️ Communication Skills: How to clearly articulate her organization’s mission to her community.
Thanks to Elisabeth’s mentorship, Giramia is now a confident leader and trainer. “Linked Africa has done a great work with me,” she says. “Today, I’m confident talking about Thrive Together Initiative in the community.”
Giramia and her team are now mentoring other women with business skills, changing mindsets, and connecting them to vital resources.
Thank you, Elisabeth Carrio, for the life-changing impact you had on Giramia and the countless lives she now touches.
