From July 5th to 26th, 2025, we hosted a month-long virtual mentorship series designed to equip African youth with essential life and leadership skills. Though the program began with 16 registered participants, we were thrilled to see the numbers grow to 24 as word spread. The flexible structure—main sessions on Tuesdays and repeat on Saturday—allowed participants from various time zones to stay engaged. Some even attended both sessions for each topic, showcasing a remarkable hunger for growth and learning.
At Linked Africa, our commitment to mentoring and empowering young Africans isn’t just a statement—it’s a lifestyle. Everything we do is grounded in our mission to build a generation of impact-driven, self-aware, and globally competitive Africans. The just-ended Summer Mentorship Program is a true reflection of that mission, bringing to life our values of mutual respect, impactful growth, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Another great things about of the program were the workshop sessions that followed the Saturday sessions.
What We Covered
The sessions explored three vital themes every young person must master in today’s competitive world:
1️⃣ How to Set SMART Goals:
Participants were guided through a hands-on process to define Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals. Action planning was a key takeaway, with many mentees leaving the session with clear next steps toward their dreams.
2️⃣ Time Management for Success:
We dove deep into practical strategies to manage time effectively. Techniques like the 80/20 Rule, Eisenhower Matrix, POMODORO Technique, and “Working from a List” helped attendees understand how to work smarter, not just harder.
3️⃣ Identifying and Refining Your Skills:
Through engaging strength-spotting exercises, participants discovered hidden potential, existing skills aligned with their goals, and new skills to develop. The session emphasized intentional growth and personal branding.
Impact and Feedback
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. From comments like “I didn’t know how much I needed this,” to “This has completely changed how I view my time and goals,” it was evident that our attendees left inspired and equipped. The success of this initiative wasn’t just in the numbers—it was in the transformation we witnessed week after week.
What’s Next?
This is only the beginning. As we continue to nurture the next generation of African leaders, we remain committed to offering mentorship programs that empower, educate, and elevate. The Summer Mentorship was a steppingstone—and with such an enthusiastic response, we’re already looking forward to what’s next.
To everyone who participated, volunteered, or spread the word—thank you. You’ve proven once again that when we invest in Africa’s youth, we’re investing in Africa’s future.
