Application Review & Screening
Linked Africa actively promotes volunteer opportunities through various channels, including its website, social media, volunteer platforms, and community outreach efforts. The application process is designed to be clear and easy for potential volunteers to navigate. Submitted applications and CVs are carefully reviewed, with a focus on alignment between the applicant’s skills, experience, and interest in Linked Africa’s mission and the specific requirements of the volunteer role. Special attention is paid to transferable skills, and the applicant’s genuine motivation for volunteering (given the unpaid nature of the position) is assessed. A shortlist of qualified candidates is then created.
2. Interview Invitation & Scheduling

Shortlisted candidates receive a personalized invitation (via email or phone) to interview for the volunteer role, with a clear indication that the position is unpaid. Flexible interview times are offered to accommodate the schedules of potential volunteers. Details about the interview process, including date, time, format (virtual or in-person), and who the candidate will be meeting with, are provided.

The interview process focuses on understanding the candidate’s passion for Linked Africa’s mission and their motivations for volunteering. Questions assess the candidate’s skills and experience, emphasizing how their abilities can contribute to the specific volunteer role. Behavioral questions are used to gauge past performance. The responsibilities and expectations of the volunteer role, including time commitment, reporting structure, and potential projects, are clearly explained. The unpaid nature of the position is reiterated. Candidates are given ample opportunity to ask questions about the organization and the role.
4. Onboarding & Orientation
Onboarding & Orientation
Selected volunteers are warmly welcomed and complete any necessary paperwork, such as volunteer agreements, confidentiality forms, or background checks (if applicable). A comprehensive orientation to Linked Africa, covering its mission, values, programs, and staff, is provided. Role-specific training is offered to equip volunteers with the necessary knowledge and tools. Volunteers are introduced to their team members and key contacts within the organization to foster connections and a sense of community.
5. Welcome to the Team!
Welcome to the Team!
New volunteers are publicly welcomed to the Linked Africa team through internal communication channels. The organization expresses appreciation for their commitment and the value they bring. Ongoing support, regular feedback, and opportunities for growth and development are provided. Volunteer contributions are recognized and celebrated (with their permission) to show appreciation and encourage continued engagement.
